About Nathaniel Jones
Nathaniel Jones focuses his practice in the areas of criminal defense, family law, and juvenile law cases. He practices regularly in courts in Eastern Iowa including Scott County and Muscatine County as well as the surrounding areas including: Jackson County, Cedar County, and Clinton County. Nathaniel is admitted to practice law in any state court in Iowa.
Nathaniel attended the University of Iowa and then Roosevelt University where he was a Franklin Honors Scholar and graduated with highest honors. He then attended the University of Southern Illinois College of Law on a full academic scholarship as a Law Honors Scholar. In law school he focused elective classes on criminal law, evidence, and trial advocacy. He was also a member of the mock trial team.
Nathaniel began his legal career as an intern in the Cook County Public Defender’s Office (Chicago, Illinois) in the Forensic Science Division. He also interned with the Iowa State Public Defender (Davenport, Iowa) where he represented clients in criminal proceedings. Nathaniel eventually moved back to the Quad Cities and practiced law with a private nonprofit in Muscatine, Iowa focusing on criminal court appointed advocacy, family law matters, and a variety of diverse and complex cases. He then entered private practice with an office in Davenport, Iowa.
In his practice, Nathaniel takes on challenging criminal cases, complex family law disputes, and maintains a general practice serving his clients in all areas of the law. He brings written and oral advocacy skills and pretrial and trial expertise to achieve the best outcome. Mr. Jones has grown to rely on his careful attention to detail, his writing in briefs and motions to the court, and his exhaustive preparation for the courtroom to achieve successful results for his clients. No case is viewed as routine or inconsequential. Every matter is meticulously examined.
His criminal defense practice ranges from simple misdemeanors to complex felony cases. His family law practice regularly includes contested dissolutions, custody, support, and visitation related issues. His office is regularly retained to modify existing court orders and to pursue and defend against protective orders under Iowa Codes 236 and 236A. He also has a wide range of experience navigating the juvenile courts in Iowa.
